Many years ago, I completed the 'Penciling' course from Joe Kubert's School of cartooning.
That project was to depict a traditional super-hero scaling a building, and I don't know what I turned in for my project, but I remember this was one my first ideas.

Approach those of you that are fearless and behold! The newest wonder of the world!
After gazing upon the very existance of such a spectacle will remove all the words from even the mouth of the woridiest gent!
Step into the tent and the sharpest, fasted woman's mind will have reason to give pause.
Throw away everything you've believed in all along,
Because today you realize - everything you know is wrong!
When it comes to Illustration Friday topics, usually I go with the first idea that comes to mind. But Hierarchy made me think of computer files and folders, and didn't present any sort of interesting image.
Letting it sit a day I suddenly got this idea: A pile of cards.
This has got a little nod to the Card People from Alice in Wonderland as well.
Spent a good summer in this house, lot's of time to draw and hang out. Never needed the fire place going.
The legs and sketchbook at the bottom would be mine.
Talking to a friend of mine and she said she wanted a JATO.
I had no idea what that was, and the internet told me it was 'Jews Against The Occupation.' And I'm down with that, but I suspected that wasn't what she had in mind.
Turns out, it's a 'Jet Assisted Take Off' which I imagine looks like a jetpack.
Months go by and I write this ridiculous little bit:
That kitty went to market.
That kitty stayed home.
JATO KITTY took off to the skys and went
Boom-Boom BOOM-BOOM-BOOM.
So here she is. A sort lovechild between Catwoman and The Rocketeer.
If I did a comic, I'd do it in Spanish so she would be: GATO con JATA
One day on the way home from work, I figured 'Hell with this, I always go straight home.'
I plopped down on a bench and drew up the duck pond.
Tried to use different types of scribbles and weight to distinguish different trees, foreground, background etc...
One brilliant summer day I was wandering, saw this point of view, found a bench near by and drew it up.
Put a focus on textures and negative space to make up the picture.
I don't sit down and draw enough real life stuff.
I Rarely ever live in an Apt and order cable. Too easy to just flip on the TV and have something served to you. Much better to have to click on it over the internet. ;-)
But I found after 3 years of surfing I was craving the option to be exposed to something RANDOM and UNPLANNED. I was actually tired of always thinking about what to do or watch. (mind you, I was nose-deep into Movie and Music project planning too, so I needed the brain-dead down time)
One of the first random things I found was an old John Wayne western where he and 3 other Cowboys find this ailing woman who entrusts them to get her newborn to safty before she passes away.
This image is loosely based on a shot of John Wayne walking from the Hill where they buried the woman.
Can't remember the name, but it was a pretty good and very unique Western.
