Instead of working at work, decided to draw up something and I took a cue from the style of the new Live Action Transformers movie.
They were going for a very kinetic and 'Samurai like' feel which is a new direction, contrasting the big blocky thing.
... I prefer the big blocky thing. Old habits die hard.
I did an "80's rec room" image with a bunch of toys and Eighties Icons from my childhood, and outside the window, Optimus Prime and Megatron were busy smashing themselves to pieces and the Lego guys had their arms up - but every old Lego figure (not the newer ones) always had a smile on their face.
Pirates, aliens, criminals - all smiles.
So in the write-up about it when I submitted that pic to Illustration Friday, I mentioned something like "The Lego scream in terror... But they only ever smile." And someone commented on how great that was.
So I drew it specifically for shirt / poster purposes.
Real life study and drawing of an old Knock-Off Grimlock toy I got for Christmas, on Skeletor's head (Grimlock is biting Skeletor's head) and a dog (with a missing leg) statue watching.
Good fun home work.
If I'm travelling I'm going to have my sketchbook.
I can sleep pretty much anywhere, and in any pose, but before that I always like to get in some drawing.
I worked at nailing the pattern in the material in the seat fabric.
For fun though, I added that ominous guy.
You're welcome.
I looked out at the wing of the plane and saw it had text written on it saying "NO STEP"
Being a fan of machines and mechanics I drew up the wing and added some muddy cat prints and boot-marks.
Every time the plan takes off I think to myself "Humans are insane." Look at the great lengths we've gone to to save ourselves the damn trouble of long-ish travel trips.
Instead of a rubber tire, imagine the front "tire" is actually made up of a bunch of "landmine-resistant" plates cushioned with springs and pneumatics.
Note I said "landmine-resistant" because I think landmine-proof would be far-fetched.
I might have mentioned this before, but I usually make the first picture in any sketchbook something that's a 'title' picture.
Or some sort of 'first themed' image, so when someone opens the book, they're not immediately greeted with scratchy scribbles.
The first page though, is left blank.
This Mushroom Thing is more of a Mushroom block from Super Mario Bros 2 (aka Doki Doki Panic) I gave it arms and legs and forced perspective.

At the end of high-school, a buddy and myself started programming a game engine to be a cross between Maniac Mansion and the 7th guest.
This was a design for an old basement where the house above had already been torn down and gone for decades.
It would have been fun and cool to do.
Decay, old dust sheets, covers, splatters, rickety frames. Great stuff.

Adding the pics right now, it occurs to me that these pictures would make a cool t-shirt series - everyone can dig offbeat, weird snow-things! Adding the pics right now, it occurs to me that these pictures would make a cool t-shirt series - everyone can dig offbeat, weird snow-things!
